Purchasing Faucets: Tips for Choosing a Faucet
Choose the perfect faucet.
If you're renovating or building your home, it's important that you know exactly what you're buying for your home, because you want them to last. To achieve this, avoid settling for cheaper items that you may need to replace after a short while.
Something special should not be limited to large objects such as refrigerators, bathtubs, or washing machines, but also to smaller objects such as doorknobs and faucets. Since there is a wide variety of faucets out there, choosing the right faucet can be difficult, especially if you don't know much about it.
To help you, here are some tips you can follow to choose the perfect faucet:
Don't settle for the looks.
Many people choose faucets based on their looks. Although the appearance of the faucet is important with your sink, you may be making compromises in terms of convenience and long-term reliability. When choosing a faucet, it is acceptable to consider its appearance, but you must not forget about its durability either.
Don't overspend.
You want a faucet that will last, and expensive faucets can do that most of the time. However, if you choose a cheaper faucet, you may end up with an inferior quality one. To make it easier for you to decide on a faucet without considering too many things:
- Spending money, consider the following outlet height and range
- Pull-down vs. conventional showers
- Number of holes in the sink
- Single vs. multiple grips.
- Pay attention to the height and range
Faucet height and reach vary from faucet to faucet and it can be frustrating when a faucet you like doesn't follow the desired height and reach for your sink. A tall spout might not fit if you have a shelf over the sink, while a short-reach spout might not fit a tall kitchen pan if you have a three-bowl sink.
Take the size of your sink and the items you want to place around it to find the best solution.
Choose Ceramic Valves.
Do not drip when you turn off the tap. Although other non-drip valves are not ceramic, they do not have the same reliability as ceramic.
In addition, the price of ceramic valves is the same as regular valves, so you might as well go for a more durable valve.
Choose one with the right finish.
When choosing the finish of your faucet, make sure it matches the cabinet and handlebar hardware. Most faucets have polished chrome, satin nickel, or bronze.
Chrome is the most durable and easiest to clean. For this reason, most public baths and commercial kitchens use this because they are suitable for long-term use.
Nickel finishes are also durable. However, they are prone to fingerprints and water stains, making them more difficult to clean compared to Chrome.
